Parking fines in the City of Clovis have been adjusted to be more in line with those of other agencies in Fresno County, as recommended by the California Vehicle Code. The code requires agencies to standardize parking penalties.
The Clovis Police Department is asking for your cooperation, as citizens and as visitors, to follow the law as it pertains to parking. Officers will continue to be looking for safety violations, people illegally parked in handicapped spaces and in front of fire hydrants, and for abandoned/non-working vehicles contributing to blight in city neighborhoods.
The fee schedule is not designed to generate revenue. It merely brings the City into alignment with neighboring communities. The City will continue to contract with Judicial Data Systems (JDS) to process citations and collect fines on behalf of the City of Clovis, while also arranging administrative reviews and hearings of citations.
In addition to its contract with JDS, the City is obligated to pay Fresno County $12.50 from each citation issued. That money is used to support the courthouse and jail facilities. The California Department of Motor Vehicles also receives $3 every time it must place a registration hold on a vehicle.
Forty dollars constitutes the most inexpensive fine when paid within the first 21 days of receiving a citation. Please refer to the City of Clovis Parking Violation Fine Schedule below. The Clovis Police Department appreciates your cooperation in making the right parking location choice.
