Mayor Harry Armstrong
Clovis scores high as a desirable community for many reasons, including that – simply put – our city works. For instance, while gridlock plagues other California communities, regardless of the hour of day or night, drivers in Clovis can get where they want in good time – with ease and comfort. With the completion of state Route 168, Clovis is just 15 minutes from the Freeway 99 corridor. Access like this helps us attract and maintain valuable businesses and industries.
Because our city works, our residents know that they can count on getting good-tasting water that passes the highest standards when they turn on the tap. And our farmers, too, know their water supplies will be adequate. Because our city works, when a developer comes to Clovis, he or she can count on getting the support from city staff to build the best subdivision possible. That’s probably why Clovis can boast of a record number of home starts.
It’s no accident our city works. And that it works so well. Since I was first elected to the City Council in 1970, community leaders have maintained a commitment and vision that Clovis will grow with a mindful eye on the well-being of its residents – be they young, old or in-between – while building a strong economic base to benefit the entire community.
This vision has served us well. It has kept us sharp and on the mark. It has guided our planning and decision-making. It’s the reason Clovis works.
