Clovis Kiwanis hosts the biggest and best Independence Day celebration in the Valley each year. Freedom Fest will be held at Clovis High School and will feature food, drinks, games, activities and top-notch live entertainment. But the biggest draw is the spectacular fireworks show. The Personnel Commission acts in an advisory capacity to the City Council with respect to the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations and competitive service. The Commission is responsible for conducting oral examinations for entry-level positions, certifying eligibility lists of candidates, and hearing appeals of certain personnel actions as provided in the City's Personnel Rules and Regulations. The City of Clovis has held an election in the Landscape Maintenance District (LMD). The City of Clovis administers 37 LMD zones that compose special assessment areas for enhanced neighborhood landscaping. These landscape zones are governed by the CA Landscape and Lighting Act of 1972, and CA Proposition 218. Per Proposition 218, assessments may not be increased without a vote of those paying the assessments. This LMD assessment increase election is for LMD zones 2, 4, and 5.
