UPDATE 5/10/16 - 5:42 PM - We can confirm that the suspect was also seen near Ragged Point (north of San Simeon) yesterday afternoon, 5/9/16. While there have been other reports of sightings, we must confirm them before reporting them.
Early on Saturday, May 8 during Mother's Day weekend, a quiet Clovis neighborhood was rocked by a double murder. 49 year-old British citizen Dave McCann stabbed his estranged wife and her mother after kicking in the door to their home. We immediately reached out on social media asking for the public's help to locate McCann, and a witness in Paso Robles, CA located the abandoned rental truck in a neighborhood. This happened to be in the same neighborhood of a family member of the victim's. McCann broke into that family member's home and stole their bicycle, which he left on. There have been several possible sightings of McCann, and our Detectives have been in the area since the day of the homicide following up on leads. The last sighting was in Cambria on Monday, May 9 where it was reported that he was on foot and may have changed his appearance slightly. We continue to ask for the public's help with finding this dangerous suspect. If you see him, call 911 and do not approach him. Please continue to share this post and contact Clovis PD with any questions. We are requesting that any questions or requests for information from the media come via DM on Twitter or private message on Facebook.
A little after 1:00 p.m. this afternoon officers were dispatched to what was initially reported as a vehicle versus pedestrian collision in the Home Depot parking lot (845 W Shaw). Clovis dispatch received numerous calls reporting a white Mercedes Benz struck a pedestrian and was attempting to flee the scene.
