Can I get a copy of my police report online?
At this time we only offer traffic collision reports online.
- Traffic collision reports since May 15, 2009, are now available for download.
- Collisions not resulting in an arrest or citation and reports that are not criminal in nature are available.
- You will need the report number, the name, and date of the collision in order to download the report.

Who can obtain a copy of a police report?
- To obtain a copy of a traffic accident report, you must be listed as the driver, passenger, or be an authorized representative of the people listed in the report or someone filing a claim.
- To obtain a copy of a property or person crime report, you must be listed as the victim. The report is releasable if it is no longer under investigation.
- If you are listed as a suspect or an arrested party and charges are filed by the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office, you will be provided a copy of the report at your arraignment hearing.
- If a juvenile is involved in a report, the report must be reviewed by the Records Division staff to determine if it is releasable without a court order from the Juvenile Court. If a court order is necessary, you will need to contact the Fresno County Juvenile Court at 559-455-5195.
How do I obtain a copy of my police report?
- All requests must be in writing. Please come to the Clovis Police Department and complete a Report Request form, you will also have provide identification and pay a fee. Please see the fee schedule posted below for current charges
- Your request may or may not be processed immediately depending on the availability of the report.
- If the report is not immediately available, the report will be mailed to you when it becomes available.
How do I find out if my vehicle has been stored, impounded or repossessed?
- Please call the Clovis Police Department/Records Division at 559-324-2400 during business hours and be prepared to provide either the license plate number of the vehicle or the vehicle identification number (VIN).
- You must be either the registered owner or the legal owner of the vehicle.
How do I obtain a release for my stored or impounded vehicle?
- The vehicle must be currently registered to you.
- The vehicle must have current insurance. The insurance must be specifically for the vehicle being released and must have current effective policy dates.
- You must have picture identification consisting of either a valid driver's license, state issued identification card, immigration card or passport.
- If you are not a licensed driver, you must bring a licensed driver with you. They will need to provide us with their driver's license for verification.
- Administrative fees are payable by cash, check, VISA or MasterCard - please see the fee schedule listed below for charges.
- Releases are processed Monday through Friday from 8am to 3pm.
- You will need to bring the following with you when you come to the Police Department: proof of the vehicle's current registration, proof of insurance, picture identification conforming to the standards mentioned above, a licensed driver and the fee. Details regarding each of these items are mentioned above. Please read carefully.
How do I obtain a release for my repossessed vehicle?
- The vehicle must be currently registered to you.
- You must have a picture identification consisting of either a valid driver’s license state identification card, immigration card or passport.
- You must pay a “Redemption Fee” payable by cash, check, VISA or MasterCard. Please see the fee schedule posted below for current charges.
- Releases are processed Monday through Friday from 8am to 3pm.
How can I dispute the impounding of my vehicle?
- Please contact 559-324-2400 to schedule an Impound Hearing with our Traffic Sergeant. You must contact us within 10 days of the impound to schedule a hearing.
- Impound Hearings are held by appointment only on Tuesdays and Thursdays between the hours of 10am to 1pm.
How do I obtain a “local criminal records check” on myself?
- The Clovis Police Department performs criminal records checks pertaining only to records within the city of Clovis and automated checks only date back to 1996.
- You will need to come in to the Police Department to complete a Citizen Background Request form and provide photo identification.
- Administrative fees are payable by cash, check, VISA or MasterCard - please see the fee schedule listed below for charges.
- The records checks are not performed immediately and the results are mailed upon completion.

How do I obtain a Restraining Order?

How do I find out if someone has been arrested?

How do I find out if I have a warrant for my arrest?

How do I add additional information to my police report?

How do I report a crime?
- Please call Clovis Police Department's non-emergency number 559-324-2800 to report a crime.
In the event it is an emergency please dial 9-1-1.
Are permits required for Residential and Commercial Alarm Systems?
- A permit is not required for an alarm system.
- Section 4-9.02 of the Clovis Municipal Code makes it unlawful to operate an alarm system that emits excessive false alarms.
How is Child Custody handled?
- Clovis Police Department will accept child custody reports for documentation purposes only, a case number will be issued.
- At this time the District Attorney is not accepting child custody reports.
