Parent Support Group
The Parent Support Group is a self-help group facilitated by the Clovis Police Department.
Objectives
Inform parents of their rights and responsibilities
To encourage the use of parenting techniques and approaches that work
Encourage parents to consistently hold their children accountable
Provide an environment where parents can support each other and share common experiences
To reduce feelings of isolation commonly experienced by parents who have out-of-control children
How it Operates
Parents/guardians “check-in” by stating their name and current problems. Group members provide each other with education about how and when to utilize the Police Department, juvenile justice system, suggestions on how to provide discipline, and support to improve parenting skills and cope with their current situation.
