Parent Support Group

The Parent Support Group is a self-help group facilitated by the Clovis Police Department.

Objectives

  • Inform parents of their rights and responsibilities
  • To encourage the use of parenting techniques and approaches that work
  • Encourage parents to consistently hold their children accountable
  • Provide an environment where parents can support each other and share common experiences
  • To reduce feelings of isolation commonly experienced by parents who have out-of-control children

How it Operates

Parents/guardians “check-in” by stating their name and current problems. Group members provide each other with education about how and when to utilize the Police Department, juvenile justice system, suggestions on how to provide discipline, and support to improve parenting skills and cope with their current situation.

When and Where

Every Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. in the Clovis Police Department Community Room located at: 1233 Fifth Street, Clovis.  No appointment needed.
