The City picks up solid waste on all holidays. Please have your toter out by 6:00 a.m. on your collection day. If you have solid waste collection problems please call 324-2604.

Items that can be placed in the gray cart include:

  • Food Scraps
  • Soiled Paper
  • Styrofoam
  • Broken Glass
  • Cactus
  • Clothing
  • Palm Fronds
  • Bagged Animal Waste

Items not allowed in any cart:

  • Hot coals
  • Concrete
  • Rocks
  • Tires
  • Toxic Chemicals
  • Fluorescent Light Bulbs
  • Batteries
  • Asphalt
  • Roofing Material
  • Treated Wood
  • Automobile Additives
  • Garden Sprays
  • Televisions
  • Computer Monitors
  • Laptop Computers
  • Cell phones

Recycling and Greenwaste

Recycling and greenwaste collection in the City is provided by a contract service with Allied Waste. If you have problems with your recycling or greenwaste collection service please contact them directly at 275-1551. If they cannot resolve your problem please contact the City at 324-2604.

 Collection Schedules and Rules

 Green Waste - Christmas Trees - Used Oil

GREENWASTE

Green waste material shall be placed in the green cart.  Acceptable greenwaste material shall be as follows:

  • Grass clippings
  • Prunings
  • Wood
  • Other organic materials normally resulting from landscape maintenance
  • Green waste material shall not exceed 3 inches in diameter or 3 feet in length

CHRISTMAS TREES

The stand and all decorations must be removed from the Christmas trees.  If possible, the trees should be cut and placed in the greenwaste cart.  Otherwise, they should be placed at the curb.   Christmas trees that are placed at the curb will be collected the first two weeks of January.

USED MOTOR OIL

Up to 1 gallon of used motor oil per week per single-family residence will be collected.  It should be placed in a plastic container(s) with a secure lid(s) adjacent to the recycling containers, and should be clearly identified as motor oil.

 Recyclable Material

The City of Clovis employs the "single stream" method of recycling in which all recyclable material other than green waste goes into the blue toter. Some of the types of material to include in the blue toter are:

    • Newspaper (including inserts, advertisements, and coupons)
    • Office paper
    • Computer paper
    • Magazines
    • Junk mail
    • Catalogs
    • Telephone books
    • Brown paper bags
    • Colored paper
    • Construction paper
    • Paperboard
    • Shoe boxes
    • Cereal and similar food boxes
    • Paper milk cartons
    • Paper egg cartons
    • Corrugated cardboard
    • Beverage boxes
    • Glass bottles of any color
    • Aluminum (including beverage containers, foil, and food containers)
    • Tin or bi-metal cans
    • Small pieces of scrap metal weighing less than 10 pounds and fitting in container
    • Plastics number 1 through 7
    • Lids or caps should be removed from all recycled containers, and all recycled materials should be rinsed clean of food residue.
