AB 109er Wanted for a Variety of Crimes Prompts Short Pursuits

Shortly after 3 o’clock this afternoon, Clovis Police pulled over 34-year-old Joshua Moynier after he ran a stop sign at Fairmont and Willow. Following the stop, Moynier sped off. Clovis Police officers initiated a short pursuit, but called it off at Peach and Gettysburg due to the number of cars on the road. Moynier is wanted for a variety of crimes in Clovis, Fresno, and Fresno County.

Clovis Police Arrest 18-Year-Old for Attempted Murder and More

About 7:15 this evening, 18-year-old Luke Emil Alpoonarian turned himself in to Clovis Police, on the advice of his attorney, for a violent incident that took place at the Ashtree Apartment complex at 3131 Willow Avenue (just north of Ashlan Ave.) on Wednesday night. Tonight Clovis Police detectives arrested Alpoonarian for attempted murder, burglary and child endangerment. His bail is set at more than one million dollars.

Clovis Landfill Fire Quickly Contained

At 5:47pm on Tuesday, the Clovis Fire Department responded to Clovis Landfill for a report of a fire.  The fire was initially observed and reported by Clovis Police Department Dispatch who had noticed smoke coming from the landfill over a security camera.  First arriving units discovered a small blaze coming from a surface area of the landfill encompassing an area 50 feet in diameter.

Clovis Police Search for Assault with a Deadly Weapon Suspect

About 11:15 last night, Clovis Police officers responded to a call of an assault with a deadly weapon/check the welfare at the Ashtree Apartment complex at 3131 Willow Avenue just north of Ashlan Avenue. A resident called Clovis Police to report a crime after she heard a lot of yelling. Both she and another witness saw a man holding a three-foot-long object, similar to a pipe, in his hand.

Statewide Crackdown on Adults Buying Alcohol for Minors

Clovis Police and California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) officers will team up as part of a statewide “Shoulder Tap” operation tomorrow evening (3/15) from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. to enforce the law and get the word out throughout the City that furnishing alcohol to a minor is a crime punishable by a $1000 fine.

DUI/Driver License Checkpoint Tomorrow Night in Clovis

The Clovis Police Department will hold a sobriety/driver license checkpoint Friday night (3/14). It’s part of the department’s on-going effort to get drunk drivers and unlicensed drivers off the road through a one-year Office of Traffic Safety “SafeTREC” grant.

Decoy Operation to Stem Alcohol Sales to Minors at Stores/Bars

A California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) grant has allowed the Clovis Police Department to curb alcohol-related crimes in the city and stop the sales of wine, beer and liquor to teenagers in Clovis over the last year. That includes tomorrow night’s (3/12) “Minor Sales” decoy operation between 4 p.m. and 11 p.m.

Patron of “China To Go” Drives into Restaurant

About 12:40 this afternoon, a man driving a gray Dodge Neon found himself inside the “China To Go” restaurant on the northeast corner of Fowler and Ashlan. He apparently hit the accelerator instead of the brake when he was trying to park.

Clovis East High School Students Learn From “Every 15 Minutes”

The Scenario on February 26, 2014: Three Clovis East High School teenage boys just finished a big morning test and decided to “relax” with alcohol at their friend Damon’s house during lunch. Alexus, Dylan and Zo realized they had to get back to class to avoid getting “tardies,” and two of them had to take another test. Dylan got behind the wheel. Meanwhile, teacher Stephanie Champion took her daily run at lunch due to a conflict in the evening.
