Clovis Police Arrest Vehicle Burglary Suspect After Long Foot Chase

At approximately 9:00 a.m. this morning, CPD officers were dispatched to 1885 Herndon at GB3 gym in regards to a vehicle burglary in progress.  An alert citizen noticed a subject prying a window in an attempt to enter the vehicle.  The citizen kept dispatch updated regarding the suspects location until officers arrived.

Officers arrived within 3 minutes and located the suspect attempting to flee.  He ran through an apartment complex, then northbound across the 168 freeway, and into another apartment complex.  Officers surrounded the area and were able to locate him hiding in trees just east of 745 N. Fowler.  He was taken into custody without incident.

Nicholas Browning, 35 of Fresno, was arrested for two counts of vehicle burglary, resisting arrest, and a no-bail warrant.  In addition, Browning is on AB-109 probation for possession of stolen property and was wanted.

Browning is no stranger to Clovis Police.  He was arrested by our agency in 2015 at the same location, GB3, for vehicle burglary and a violation of probation.

We’d like to thank officers of the Clovis Unified School District Police Department for their assistance in the apprehension of Browning.
