Head-On Injury Collision with Pin-Ins Closes Clovis Roadway

At approximately 9:00 a.m. this morning, CPD officers were dispatched to a head-on collision on Minnewawa between Herndon and Birch Avenues. Upon arrival, officers located two vehicles with major damage.  One of the involved vehicles, a Honda 4-door, was on fire and the two occupants were pinned in.  The fire was quickly extinguished by assisting citizens.

Engines from the Clovis and Fresno County fire departments responded and used extrication equipment to free both occupants of the Honda.  Both occupants of the Honda were transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life threatening injuries.  The driver of the work truck was transported to the hospital with complaint of pain.

During the investigation, officers located open containers of alcohol within the Honda.  It is yet to be determined if alcohol was a contributing factor to this collision. Investigators with the Clovis Police Department Collision Reconstruction Unit are still investigating the cause of this collision.

Minnewawa Avenue was opened to normal traffic at approximately 3:00 p.m. today.
