Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Breakfast Held Today in Clovis

Live with Passion; Love with Compassion” is the theme of this year’s breakfast. Among the dignitaries attending were Clovis Mayor Nathan Magsig, Councilmember Lynne Ashbeck, Clovis City Manager Rob Woolley, Clovis Assistant City Manager John Holt, Clovis Police Chief Matt Basgall, Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims, Fresno Police Chief Jerry Dyer, Retired U.S. Ambassador Phillip Sanchez, members of the Fresno City Council, members of area law enforcement agencies, Clovis Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Janet Young, Clovis Unified Board Member Betsy Sandoval, Dr. Sudarshan Kapoor and members of the Fresno Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Unity Committee, and many more. The breakfast is the third of seven “committee” events being held in Fresno/Clovis this year to commemorate the life of the late civil rights leader. This is the 11th year that the Clovis Police Department has presented it.

The breakfast was held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. (program began at 9:45 a.m.) in the Clovis Veterans Memorial Building. Darius Assemi, President of Granville Homes, was the keynote speaker. Most attendees brought a can of food to help those in need in the community through the Salvation Army Clovis Corps.
